On my walk up to campus this morning, the fresh air reminded me of Jane Austen for some reason. I imagined myself in heaven, meeting Jane and telling her how much I love her books, and also an aside that I’m glad she made it. :) And then I thought, who else do I want to meet in heaven?
I’m not including the Savior or any of the prophets or apostles or family members, since they’re a given. Nor am I including or not including anyone from the list based on whether I think they’ll make it to heaven. :) (Far better to leave the judging to those who know the facts best.) Also, these are people I really would want to meet; I’m not just padding the list with famous names. (I found myself starting to do so but luckily stopped right away.) For example, I love Alice in Wonderland but I don’t think I’d care to meet Lewis Carroll.
Without further ado, then, here is my list:
Literature: C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, George MacDonald, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Leo Tolstoy, G.K. Chesterton, L.M. Montgomery, Goethe, Ralph Waldo Emerson
Music: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Johann Pachelbel, John Williams, Rodgers & Hammerstein
Historical Figures: George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, Johann Gutenberg, Socrates, Isaac Newton
Other: Hugh Nibley
And, just for fun, Fictional Characters: the Pevensie children, Aslan, Frodo Baggins, Gandalf, Don Quixote, Anne of Green Gables, Jane Eyre
Feel free to add to your own in the comments.
