My bookshelves have been overflowing lately — books stacked horizontally across the tops of other books, books on top of the shelves, books pretty much everywhere except on the floor. (I have a perennial fear of flooding. ;)) This past week or so, however, my family has been remodeling the kitchen, and since they’re putting in new cabinets they decided to give me one of the now-unnecessary bookshelves. They brought it down this morning and it’s standing next to me, brimful of beautiful books. I don’t think I can express in words just how much I love books. Imagine a diehard NFL fan. I’m not like him. ;) But I love books more than he loves football. Yup, that much. I love them a billion gazillion times. Plus one. Plus one. Plus one. :P
Anyway, I’ll probably borrow my roommate’s digital camera soon and snap some shots of the shelves so y’all can see them. (I actually ordered a camera last week, but it hasn’t arrived yet. When it does, I suspect I’ll become a Flickrmaniac. Pro account, upload tons of pics, the works. Photography has been calling my name for years now.)
On my way up to the testing center this morning I noticed a bunch of people gathered on 800 North. Just as I got there, the Homecoming Parade started. I was stuck! Somehow I’d gotten it into my head that one mustn’t cross the street during the parade — as if the police would stop me or something. So I resigned myself to watching the parade, hoping it wasn’t more than 20-30 minutes long. What if it were an hour or two? All my plans for the day would get jumbled around. After the marching band had passed, though, there was a break, and some guy next to me quickly walked across, so I gulped and followed suit, trying to look sympathetic to the parade cause while focusing intently on the ground in front of me. Sometimes I wonder about myself. :)
The test I was en route to take, by the way, was the midterm for my C.S. Lewis class. Nine essay questions. I can’t divulge more than that, since the test doesn’t close for six more minutes ;), but let’s just say it wasn’t too bad — primarily because most of the material on the test was stuff I’ve read two or three or more times. I’ve already decided I want to be a somewhat eminent C.S. Lewis scholar when I grow up. ;)
Now I just have a paper, a presentation, and three more midterms, all within the next week. Have I ever told y’all how much I loooove crunch time? ~sigh~ :P
