In-flight iPod

Categories: Mac

Apple just announced that “it is teaming up with Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM and United to deliver the first seamless integration between iPodĀ® and in-flight entertainment systems. These six airlines will begin offering their passengers iPod seat connections which power and charge their iPods during flight and allow the video content on their iPods to be viewed on the their seat back displays.”

That is brilliant.

I had heard about this. Frankly, I’m surprised Air France was involved. France seems to have something against iPod and iTunes (whether or not you support it, or I support, isn’t my point) and to make a measure that ‘favors’ one media player over another is surprising.

Oh well.

You’re right — TUAW reports that KLM and Air France are denying iPod integration. Somebody made a boo-boo. :) France seems to have something against a lot of people. Just kidding.

Anyway, it would be nice if there were a universal interface so not just the iPod would work in airlines, and perhaps someday that’ll be a reality, but in the meantime I don’t particularly mind Apple getting more market share. (Especially with the wretched Zune being released recently.)
