My favorite things, part III

Following on the heels of parts one and two, here’s a new addition to the My Favorite Things family.1 They’re in no particular order — I just write ‘em as they come.

Reading and writing (of course :)), light (both physical and spiritual), people who are down to earth, stories (all kinds, but particularly mythopoeic ones, ala C.S. Lewis and Tolkien and George MacDonald), people valiant in the testimony of Jesus, the beauty of God’s creation, cathedrals, beautiful photographs, the building of Zion, feeling the Spirit, the temple, the sacrifices of the pioneers, Brother Joseph’s loyalty to the Lord, family history, overcast afternoons, the golden light at sunset, people who stand up for their convictions, dreaming big, making friends, losing my life in the service of others, Garamondesque fonts, simplicity, well-written dialogue, English forests, water, eyes with light in them, Beethoven’s Ninth, Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini (from Somewhere in Time), Pachelbel’s Canon in D, feeling warm in the winter, fireplaces with fires in them, secret passageways, solving puzzles, interesting conversation, unwittingly being the answer to someone’s prayer, comments on my blogs :), getting and writing e-mails, people who love books, finding out the library’s open when I thought it was closed, Thai food, photorealistic art, wind, the warmth of laundry just out of the dryer, receiving personal revelation, finishing projects, designing things, waking up refreshed and not tired, finding the magic in life, the innocence of children, and home sweet home.

1. A postscript of inconsequential historical note: So that I wouldn’t be unduly influenced by the first two posts, I didn’t re-read them until after writing this one.
