Gmail Paper

I’m an idiot. ~sigh~ When I logged on to Gmail this morning, I saw this announcement for Gmail Paper:

Gmail Paper Intro

Practically drooling, I clicked on the link. This page came up (sorry it’s clipped; I’m on my roommate’s computer and don’t really want to waste hours in MS Paint fixing it, and besides, Google will no doubt have a copy somewhere):

Gmail Paper

I was so excited I could scarcely contain myself — paper copies of all my e-mails, for free? And photos on nice, glossy photo paper? It seemed too good to be true, but Google’s Google, and they said that the ads on the back would support it financially. I started e-mailing friends about it. I dreamed of getting a huge Gmail Paper box in the mail this week. Heaven!

As I was e-mailing them, however, I realized that there wasn’t any Paper Archive button in my Gmail. But sometimes they do limited deployment first, so I figured it would show up soon. Then I remembered, with a shock of ghastly disappointment, that today was April Fool’s. O, the cruelty! How heartless! Good one, Google. I’ve got to hand it to you, that was ingenious. (Oh, and I had been surprised that they announced it on a Sunday, but my excitement soon overcame my rational thinking processes. :))

Anyway, I’m still waiting for the gDrive…

They also have free, in-home wireless broadband as the second April Fool’s joke. Gmail Paper is better, though, I think.
