Rings of the tree

Categories: LDS, Writing, Theatre, Religion

I went to see Mahonri Stewart’s play Rings of the Tree tonight. It’s brilliant. Really good. It runs through Saturday, so if you have the chance to go see it, do it. You won’t regret it.

I don’t really want to spoil anything, which leaves me a bit mute, and I need to get to bed so I’ll try to keep this short (though it deserves a full review). But I can say this much: Rings of the Tree is the sort of thing I absolutely dig. It brings in religious elements in a very cool way, thought-provoking and mind-boggling. I wish I’d written it. It reminds me a lot of Charles Williams, actually, and it’s the sort of thing I want to start writing, myself.

The play’s at UVSC (details are on the page linked above), and it’s only $5, and there’s even a matinee, so if you’re in the valley, go see it. And everything else Mahonri writes.
