Buzzword

I heard about Adobe Buzzword a few weeks ago but the registration wasn’t working. Came across it again tonight and wow, this is pretty dang sweet:

Buzzword

That’s in a web browser, folks. It’s Flash-based word processing, and it actually works. I dabbled around with it a bit and found it to be quite responsive and smooth. I love the feel. And they include beautiful fonts like Minion Pro and Myriad Pro — mmm. :)

The one downside that I’ve noticed is that when I previewed the print job, it wasn’t as sharp as it should’ve been — it looks like they print by exporting to a somewhat low-res image. But that may have just been a fluke.

It’s exciting to see things like this happening, especially because Google Docs just doesn’t work when you’re trying to get a specific format (since you can’t see the page as a page). I don’t know if I’m quite ready to ditch Google Docs (and not every computer I use will have the right version of Flash, although eventually they will), but wow, this is cool.

Does it have Gill Sans? That’s make or break for me, I’m afraid.

Alack, it doesn’t look like it. But you never know — with technology like this developing, eventually they might very well allow you to upload your own fonts.
