That time of the semester

Categories: Books, Random

Cleaning checks are tomorrow morning, and I find myself doing everything possible to procrastinate it. Heck, if I’d started a few hours ago like I planned, I could be done in another hour. But no, instead I’m trying to tell myself that I can totally just go to bed now and wake up at 3 or 4 to do it. Madness. Folly. And oh-so-tempting. :)

What I want to do instead of cleaning is spend my time reading. I’m still loving The Brothers Karamazov, and I’m also enjoying Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner, Dennis Rasmussen’s The Lord’s Question, Søren Kierkegaard’s Fear and Trembling, and Madeleine L’Engle’s The Arm of the Starfish. Books are great. Cleaning is too, but that doesn’t really make me want to get off my duff and go do it. :P

The simple solution is audiobooks! Or podcasts! They have gotten through many boring domestic tasks. I recommend escapepod.org and podiobooks.com.

Hmm, I should’ve thought of that. :) Instead, I listened to Aida, The Sound of Music, and The Fiddler on the Roof. All of which were good, certainly, but an audiobook would’ve been nice, too. Thanks for the links!
